Are you by yourself?
Did you know that feeling alone is a normal part of life?
We've all been there, let's face it.
We feel sad when we don't do well on our tests, when the person we love turns us down, or when someone close to us dies.
That's just the way things are.
Depression, on the other hand, can kill more people than simple loneliness. It could have effects on you for the rest of your life that could hurt your self-esteem, health, and well-being.
Well, today is your lucky day because I'm going to give you some great tips to help you beat the "Melancholy Mood" so you can get the MOST joy out of your daily activities.
Now that we've said that, let's move on to Tip #1.
Tip #1: Do you get enough sunshine and light?
Did you know that when you don't get enough sunlight, your body makes a hormone called Melatonin? This hormone can make you feel sad and/or tired.
Melatonin is only made when it's dark outside. It makes you feel slow because it brings down your body temperature.
So, if you are always stuck in your room (with the curtains closed), it would be hard to keep yourself from staying in bed.
This is why many people get depressed a lot more often in the winter than in other seasons.
Because the nights are getting longer.
If you can't afford to get some sun, you can always make your room brighter by turning on more lights.
Or...
You could get out of the office for lunch once in a while and walk around a lot in the early afternoon instead of driving short distances in your car.
There are a lot of options. It really depends on you.
Tip #2: Stay busy and look for ideas.
If you keep your mind busy with the things you like to do most, you'll be more likely to get over any feelings of depression.
Do what makes you happy.
If you don't have a lot of money, you could do simple things like take a stroll in the park, play sports, read books, or do anything else that you love to do but doesn't cost much.
Set a goal, too.
No matter how hard or discouraging life gets, stay strong and believe that you can do anything you set your mind to.
With this kind of upbeat outlook, you'll be able to beat the blues and feel happy.
Tip #3. Take a Break. Just take it easy.
I'm serious.
Listen to some music that makes you feel good. Take a warm bath and relax. Just take a break from your stressful work and spend the day messing around and doing the things you love.
To put it another way, go have fun. Life is already too short.
Tip #4: Eat healthy foods and stay in shape.
Don't eat a lot of foods that are high in sugar, caffeine, or alcohol.
Sugar and caffeine may give you a short burst of energy, but they will cause you to feel anxious, tense, and have problems inside your body.
On the other hand, alcohol makes you feel down. A lot of people would drink to "forget about their problems."
In the process, all they are doing is making their conditions worse.
Also, did you know that regular exercise is one of the best ways to fight depression?
Why you ask?
Because it gives your body a chance to make more endorphins than usual.
Because endorphins reduce stress and make people happy, they are sometimes called "the happy chemicals."
Tip #5: Make sure you have friends outside of work.
No one is alone. Your close friends are there to give you a boost of confidence.
Spending time with them and doing worthwhile things with them could make you feel very good.
And we all know that there's nothing better than having the support of a group.
And... never forget how powerful Touch is.
What I mean is, doesn't it feel great when someone pats you on the back and says nice things to you when things are hard?
Today, give someone a hug or a kiss.
Get intimate.
Make sure you are close to your family and friends.
Love and care from other people can make your immune system much stronger and help you stay healthy.
Best of all, you'll be happier and more secure.
Now go try out those five tips and see what happens.
