Most people have trouble getting rid of clutter and getting organised because they don't know where to start or how to start.
So, it's put off for...later.
Most of the time, the reasons are good.
We have a lot going on in our lives, for one thing. We are always going in so many different directions that it never seems like we have enough time to do anything.
And it's easier to put off organising because you think it will take too much time right now.
The other important things, like eating and sleeping (which aren't that important, right? ), come next on the list.
But it doesn't have to take a lot of time every day to get organised.
And if you don't start getting organised, even if it's just a little bit at a time, there are some very real negative effects that, well, could kill you.
I know, it's a bit extreme.
But clutter and disorganisation do have a real effect on your health.
It makes your already busy life even more stressful.
It makes you tired and drains your energy.
For many people, it makes their depression worse.
But enough with the bad news!
Here's how getting rid of clutter and getting things in order can help us...
-More sleep.
Every day I feel better.
-Better connections.
-Easier house management.
-You pay your bills on time.
-More space.
-You'll have more time to do things you really like!
All of these things are very real, and getting organised shouldn't be put off any longer.
But I know that it's still too easy to say "I'll do it later."
I'll admit that living in the present makes it easier to throw things on the counter, on chairs and tables, or in closets and drawers.
Too often, people put things down and don't follow my simple but important rule, "touch it once."
But, as I said before, too much stuff can kill.
No joke.
In January of this year, a 62-year-old woman from Washington was found dead under nearly 6 feet of dishes, boxes, and "stuff" that had apparently fallen on her.
This is a very sad and dramatic story.
Go back about thirty years in this poor woman's life. How many days had passed when she put things off and said, "I'll do it tomorrow."
Now, I hope that your situation isn't as bad, but the truth is the truth. You don't know what can happen if your house isn't in order if you don't take care of it right away.
At the very least, I bet you're feeling stressed out and a little bit angry, and you really want to make things easier at home.
It doesn't seem like much, does it?
We all know that stress is bad.
But maybe your life isn't that bad and all you want to do is get rid of the mess and get things in order.
Or you need to get better at organising papers because you sometimes forget to pay a bill that was sitting in a pile (because you don't have a real system for your bills, which you do need).
What's the big deal?
What's a $5 payment here or a $35 late fee there?
It works out.
So why don't you do something to get rid of the mess in your home and get it in order...before it kills you?
