Hepatitis is a disease that comes in many different forms, but all of them cause the liver to become inflamed. Depending on the prognosis and the symptoms, the cause can be found. Some types of hepatitis don't show many signs or symptoms until the inflammation has been going on for a long time and the liver cells have been replaced by connective tissue. General signs of hepatitis are fever, jaundice, an enlarged liver, and abdominal pain (icterus).
Most cases of acute hepatitis are caused by viral infections. Hepatitis comes in 7 not so tasty flavours: A, B, C, D-Agent (which needs the hepatitis B virus to form), E, F, and G. None of these are good, and you should stay away from them at all costs.
Hepatitis A is the one that most people have. It is spread through the orofecal route, which means that it is spread through contaminated food. This one is the easiest to get, but it doesn't last very long, so the body can make antibodies to protect itself against it. Getting a Hepatitis A shot is a great way to protect yourself. This will stop the virus from spreading.
Hepatitis B is a close relative of Hepatitis. Also, this evil twin is very easy to get. It can be passed on through blood, tattoos, sexual contact, and even from your mother when you are born. Hep. B can be a short-term virus, but some people's bodies can't make antibodies against it. This turns a short-term virus into a long-term one.
Hepatitis is easiest to avoid if you keep yourself clean and get your shots. Click the link at the bottom of this page to go to my website and learn more about all types of Hepatitis.
