Jesus taught us that when we pray, we should come to God, "Our Father," like a little child. Through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, He bought us back from the paradise of closeness to Him that Adam took away. He also fixed our relationship with God and made us part-owners of the Kingdom of God. So, in the name of Jesus, we can talk to the Father and ask "our" Daddy for anything, and He will give it to us. (John 15) Our dad keeps telling us that we will all have a happy, healthy life. He cares about you as much as He does about me.
One thought comes to mind: If God loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for you, how much should we love each other? He is Love itself. He wants you to walk and talk with Him like you would with your best friend. He's an angry God. He loves it when you tell Him everything that's bothering you. He is the only one who can, after all.
Three promises you should remember are:
"...listen to what I say; pay attention to what I say. Don't let them leave your mind; keep them in the centre of your heart. They give life to those who find them and keep their bodies healthy." Proverbs 4: 18-22) ,
"Belief comes from hearing, and hearing comes from God's Word." (Romans 10:17),
"Do well and stay healthy, just as your soul does well." (3 John 2).
Read, Listen, and Do
You can't just wish or hope for health and get it. The Bible is a true book. Isn't it great to know that we can count on someone? In the First Commandment, it says, "You should love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength. I still remember the day I learned that in Grade 6 like it was yesterday. I remember thinking that loving someone you don't know and can't see would be impossible. But He "read,' those thoughts I had so long ago slowly and quietly led me to the point where I not only found Him and learned about Him, but also got to know and love Him very well. And the first thing I did was ask Jesus Christ to be Lord of my life. He says that if you know Him, you know the Father as well (Mat. 14:7,9).
It's important to read the Bible, think about it, and do what it says to do to honour God. This can't be fixed quickly in one day. To get to know and love God, you need to learn the Bible, listen to teachings that God has blessed, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide and teach you in everything. Proverbs 4:23 says that when you let the words sink deep into your heart every day, "the problems of life" will flow out of you. In other words, the Word will become so much a part of you that when you face any kind of disaster, the Holy Spirit will bring Healing Scriptures to mind so you can speak into the situation. Verses about peace, healing, or whatever the situation calls for will come out of you, and healing will happen based on your faith.
Faith is great because it keeps growing! You might have a sore throat one day and see it get better before your eyes. What the heck. The next time you have a bigger problem or someone asks you to pray for their sore throat, you will find that your faith is up to the task.
