Have you heard the joke about the person who orders a large cheeseburger, super-sized fries, and a diet soda because they are on a diet? Even though this is a bit of an exaggeration, it is a great way to show what we mean when we talk about a blind spot. A blind spot is something that can make it hard for you to lose weight, but you can't see it.
One or more of the following could be one of your blind spots:
- You eat a lot of "low fat" foods that aren't healthy for you.
Diet drinks help you quench your thirst.
Your workout routine doesn't work at all!
You only go out to eat on the weekends, so you feel like you can eat whatever you want.
- You don't even realise how much you snack during the day.
These are just a few things that might make you think about how you might be making it harder for yourself to lose weight. Even if we read about our blind spot, it's likely that we won't be able to see it. After all, it is a blind spot. So, how do you figure out what your blind spots are?
- Write down everything you eat for a month and then look at the results.
- Ask someone that you can trust and value their opinion
Pay a personal trainer to look over your workout plan.
Pay a registered dietitian to look at what you eat.
- Buy software that keeps track of your diet and workouts and let it evaluate what you put in.
Recognizing your nutrition and exercise blind spots can help you achieve your healthy lifestyle, and ideal weight goals.
I hope you are in good health,
Bill
