Have you made plans for what you want to do in 2006? You might want to work out more, eat better, or spend more time with your family. If you run your own business, you might be thinking about getting a bookkeeper, working less, or making your marketing plan stronger. All of those are very good goals, but how do you really feel about them? If you're like me, you probably think you need resolutions and that to be successful, you have to keep all of them. How could we not feel that way when everyone in the media is telling us to make and keep our New Year's resolutions?
Well, you might want to be a little less hard on yourself. Why don't you try just one new thing to make your life a little better? This can be something personal or something for work. The important thing to remember is that this "thing," whatever it is, should be important to you and add value to your life in some way. Even if all you do is sit back, close your eyes, and do nothing for 20 minutes at the end of each day, if that makes you feel better and helps you relax, then mission accomplished!
Try to keep in mind that everyone is a person and that no one is perfect. If you reach your goals in small steps, they won't seem so hard. And if your life is going well right now and you don't feel the need to change anything, don't. It's really that easy. Don't worry about having big goals; just work on smaller ones as you see fit.
You'll be able to enjoy 2005 to the fullest if you take care of yourself and don't put too much pressure on yourself to make resolutions you might not keep. Here's to a healthy, happy, and successful year for you!!
