Blog is a short form of "weB LOG," which is a way to store information online. The name "Blog" was given to this organised way of posting and storing information. By its name, Blog stands for a website with both new and old posts. A very simple idea turned out to be very useful in meeting the needs of the Internet community.
People who go online are looking for new, relevant information about a certain subject. This is where blogs come in and win the attention of visitors hands down.
They give you exactly what you need: targeted, up-to-date information on any given topic, as well as access to an archive, search functions, and even some sort of interaction, since you can usually read comments from other visitors and take part in a small discussion like on a message board.
Why Blog might be the perfect answer you've been looking for and how it can solve a lot of publishing problems at once. Blog can be your website and a way to make money all in one:
- Marketing that's built in. RSS feed is also a great way to spread a message on its own. You don't have to worry about how to make your content go viral, which is a problem that every "traditional" website webmaster has to deal with.
- Blog is a simple Content Management System (Content Management System). It helps you solve a lot of little problems that used to take webmasters months to fix. For example, it makes it easy to create new pages with automatic cross-linking and archiving functions, install visitor feedback scripts, manage and update navigation menus, republish RSS feeds and create your own feeds, and so on.
As the owner of a blog, you use the same RSS feed to share your blog's content with other sites. What they need is to add your RSS feed to the software that displays feeds. You won't have any trouble with that because the technology is very popular.
Just add your RSS feed to a few Blog Directories and "ping" (notify) Blog servers every time you make a new post (this is a feature that almost all Blogs have). In 90% of cases, this will be enough to get your marketing going and make sure search engines index your site quickly.
- Many people think that built-in RSS (Atom) feeds are the best way for "traditional" email marketers to deal with SPAM and filters.
When you add a new post to your Blog, RSS feeds are automatically updated. No more problems with managing "email lists," subscribers, unsubscribers, email filters, HTML forms, SPAM complaints, follow-ups, and so on. Don't worry about it. RSS will help you with everything, from follow-ups to putting out email courses.
The difference, and what many people think is the biggest benefit, is that RSS uses a method called "pull" to send messages. Unlike "traditional" email, you don't have to send anything to anyone. When you publish a new post, your RSS feed is automatically updated, which pings syndicating websites that you have a new Blog post and tells (or doesn't tell) your RSS subscribers about your new post so they can pull it and read it.
This is how RSS solves the problems of SPAM emails and SPAM filters at the same time. Your subscribers just don't get anything that would cause them to complain or worry. They just use their own special RSS reader programme to subscribe to your RSS feed. No one else can do this for them (RSS aggregator, available free everywhere on the net). Then, they check back every so often and, most of the time, automatically add your new Blog posts. If they don't like it, all they have to do is remove your RSS feed from the software they use to collect RSS feeds. You can't "push" your post to their RSS feed without their permission, like you can with email. Depending on the settings, they need to load your Blog post by hand, semi-automatically, or automatically.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not against email. On the contrary, when you feel like you have a lot of extra time because of the benefits of RSS, you should definitely add email marketing to your arsenal. It does come in handy in some situations. You just won't rely on email as your only way to make money. Instead, you'll use it professionally as a great add-on tool, which will limit any negative effects it might have.
As you can see, blogs are the perfect and easiest way to run and keep up your informational business. They proved to be useful in small niche markets and multilevel blog systems, where they helped their happy owners make a steady income. One of them can be you.
