Here are two things you can do to get rid of constipation, whether you have a mild case or a long-term one.
Juice from apples and pears
If your constipation isn't too bad, you can use this remedy to get relief.
Make fresh apple and pear juice in equal amounts. You should drink this mix when you wake up and an hour before bed.
Make juice from the slightly hard pears. If the pear is ripe, the best way to make a thick drink is to blend it whole with apple juice. If you use the whole pear, you'll get more fibre. Just take out the seeds, but don't peel organic ones.
Pears are full of minerals, vitamins, and chemicals that help clean your colon, kidneys, and blood cells.
Juice from apples and plums
Here's a way to get rid of constipation if you have it all the time. You can also speed up your peristaltic action by drinking prune juice instead of just apple juice.
Here's what you need to do.
If you have a juicer, you can make fresh apple juice and drink 3–4 glasses of it every day. You can also buy apple juice at the store, but try to get fresh-squeezed juice instead of pasteurised or flash-pasteurized juice. Use flash-pasteurized apple juice if you can't find fresh apple juice.
Buy your juice in glass containers if possible.
Solvents are used to clean plastic containers. These solvents stay in the container walls and slowly leak into the apple juice. When plastic containers are kept in hot places, this gassing out is worse.
Take the following combination first thing in the morning before breakfast to speed up the laxative effects of apple juice:
Drink two to three cups of prune juice.
After 30 minutes, have a cup of apple juice.
Then, after an hour, have another cup of apple juice.
I usually buy prune juice in a bottle and make my own apple juice by squeezing apples.
After you drink your prune juice and your first glass of apple juice, you might need to go to the bathroom. Everyone is different, but you may need to go to the bathroom soon after drinking prune juice. I have used this combination and told my clients to try it, and both times the results have been good.
By itself, prune juice can help with constipation. It works well as a laxative and is safe and gentle to use. Drink one cup in the morning and one cup at night. The laxative effect of prune juice comes from a substance called dihydrophenylisatin. Prunes also have a lot of iron and can help people who are anaemic or don't get enough iron.
If you add prune juice to your diet, don't drink as much as you would if you were constipated. Drink half a glass in the morning and maybe half a glass at night.
