There are some things that can lead to the development of diabetes.
Heredity
A big factor is your genes. Diabetes can be passed down from parent to child for hundreds of years. But we don't fully understand how inheritance works. Statistics show that people with a family history of the disease are more likely to get diabetes than people without a family history of the disease. Between 25 and 33 percent more risk.
The diabetes gene is one reason why diabetes, especially type 2 diabetes, tends to run in families. But even that is caused by things you can't change, like your genes. You don't have to deal with it. Diabetes mellitus can't really be cured, but it can be controlled so well that you wouldn't know the difference.
Diet
Most doctors and scientists have said that diabetes is a disease of prosperity that is mostly caused by eating too much over time. Not only is it bad to eat too much sugar and refined carbs, but proteins and fats that are turned into sugar can also cause diabetes if you eat too much of them.
Diabetes is almost never seen in countries where people are poor and can't afford to eat too much.
Diabetes is directly linked to eating processed foods like cookies, bread, cakes, chocolate, pudding, and ice cream that are high in refined carbohydrates.
Obesity
Diabetes is often caused by being too fat. Studies show that between 60 and 85% of people with diabetes are overweight. In the United States, about 80% of people with type 2 diabetes who don't need insulin are said to be overweight.
Insulin doesn't work right when there is too much fat in the body. When there is more fatty tissue in the body, muscle and tissue cells become less sensitive to insulin. Insulin acts on the receptor sites on the surface of the cells to let the sugar in the blood enter the cells.
People who are older tend to gain weight, and many of them also get a mild form of diabetes. This is because people whose blood sugar is too high can often improve it just by losing weight.
Tension and Stress
Stress and diabetes mellitus are linked, so people who are under a lot of stress or who don't live a normal life should take the right precautions and make the right changes.
Grief, worry, and anxiety caused by exams, the death of a close relative, the loss of joy, a failed business, or a tense relationship with a spouse can all have a big effect on the metabolism and cause sugar to show up in the urine.
Smoking
The act of smoking is also a major risk factor. Diabetes is twice as likely to happen to men who smoke. When a woman smokes 25 or more cigarettes a day, her chance of getting diabetes goes up by 40%.
Lifestyle Risk
Diabetes is more likely to happen to people who don't move around much. The comforts of today have made work easier. Exercise and physical activity help control weight because they use up a lot of the glucose (sugar) in the blood as energy and make cells more sensitive to insulin. So, the pancreas doesn't have to work as hard.
