Energizing Yoga is the oldest way to improve yourself, and it is becoming more and more popular all over the world because it has so many health and fitness benefits. People all over the world are doing yoga exercises by the millions because the media keeps talking about how good yoga is for everyone.
But yoga is a science in the same way that every other science is. The question is: "Are all yoga moves safe for everyone to do, even if they have different health problems?"
"This is a question that requires more research into yoga itself," said Subodh Gupta, a yoga expert from India. "Otherwise, practising yoga could be more dangerous than helpful."
"While some yoga exercises are easy to learn and have many benefits, others can be very dangerous for people with Hernia. For example, yoga exercises like Sun Salutation, Cobra pose, Locust pose, Bow pose, Standing Forward Bend, and Kapalabhati are not recommended for people with hernia because they may make the problem worse, according to London-based yoga expert Subodh Gupta.
Last year, over half a million hernia surgeries were done in the U.S., and more than 2% of the British population has a hernia. This makes it important to ask if all yoga practitioners are aware of their health and any precautions they need to take before starting a yoga routine. Madonna, a famous singer who regularly does Ashtanga yoga, just had surgery for a hernia (Ashtanga yoga exercise series is a system developed by Mysore based famous Indian Yoga guru Shri K Pattabhi Jois). Subodh Gupta says, "The famous Ashtanga yoga series that involves jumping can be very dangerous for people who have a hernia." A hernia happens when the outer layers of the abdominal wall get weak, puff out, or even tear. Most hernias are caused by straining, which can happen when jumping, defecating, coughing, lifting heavy things, etc.
"Do yoga Gurus give safe warnings about how to do different yoga poses?" "Do people who do yoga listen to safety tips before starting their practise?"
"Well, this is an important point that everyone who teaches yoga and everyone who does yoga should think about. Subodh Gupta said, "The people who do yoga need to know that if they don't know anything about it or don't know how to do it, they could end up in the operating room."
A noble effort has been done by some of the renowned yoga gurus from India and the teachers from the West to spread the awareness of yoga but unless Yoga exercises are done with precautions, more and more people will get injured without realizing.
Subodh Gupta, a yoga expert from India, put out this warning for people who are learning yoga without taking care.
