Recipes for Valentine's Day: Sweet desserts for your sweetheart
The day of St. Valentine is coming up soon. Here are some recipes for Valentine's Day puddings that you can make for that special someone who is coming to dinner on Valentine's Day. Try one of these recipes for Valentine's Day to make it more romantic.
Valentine Recipe:1 HONEY PUDDING
Mix a half cup of honey with six ounces of bread crumbs. Add a half cup of milk, a half teaspoon of ginger, the grated rind of half a lemon, and the yolks of two eggs. Mix the ingredients well, then add two tablespoons of butter and the well-beaten whites of the eggs. Steam a pudding mould that is not more than three-quarters full for about two hours.
Valentine Recipe:2 CHOCOLATE PUDDING
Break up half a cake of chocolate and put it in a quart of milk. Heat it on the stove until it boils. Take the mix off of the stove. Mix together the yolks of three eggs, one and a half cups of sugar, and four teaspoons of cornstarch. Keep stirring until it gets thick. Take the mixture off the heat, add vanilla, and pour it into a dish. Add a little sugar to the whites of the three eggs and beat them until they form a stiff foam. Put a meringue on top of the pudding and put it in the oven until it is a light brown. Use cold food.
Valentine Recipe:3 JELLY PUDDINGS.
Two cups of fine, stale biscuit or bread crumbs, one cup of rich milk cream if you can get it, five eggs beaten very light, half a teaspoon of soda stirred into boiling water, and one cup of sweet jelly, jam, or marmalade. Pour the hot milk over the
crumbs. Beat until half cold, then add the beaten yolks, followed by the beaten whites, and then the soda. Put half of the batter into large cups, put them in a fast oven, and bake for 30 minutes. When you're done, quickly and skillfully turn out. Make a cut in the side of with a sharp knife.

Take it off the heat and add a half cup of sugar, two tablespoons of butter, the grated rind of a lemon, and the lemon's juice. Mix together two cups of bread crumbs and two tablespoons of flour ahead of time. Add this to the apple mixture as well, and then stir in two eggs that have been well-beaten. Put everything into a well-buttered pudding dish and bake in a moderate oven for 45 minutes. Serve with sugar, cream, or a sweet, thick sauce.
Valentine Recipe:5 APRICOT PUDDING
Take one can of apricots, two eggs, half a pint of milk, and six sponge cakes. Put the apricots in a pot with a little sugar and let them simmer for half an hour. Take them off the fire and use a fork to beat them. Mix them in, and the sponge cakes fell apart. Mix the eggs and milk together, then pour it over the apricots. Pour the mixture into a mould that has been wet, and bake it for half an hour in a hot oven with a lid on the mould. Turn out the food and serve it hot or cold.
Valentine Recipe:6 CARROT PUDDING
Take three or four clear red carrots and boil and peel them. Take the red part of the carrot and beat it very finely in a mixing bowl. Add the crumbs of a penny loaf, six eggs, half a pound of clarified butter, two or three spoonfuls of rose water, a little lemon peel shred, and a little nutmeg. Valentine Recipe:7 CHEESE PUDDING
Put a breakfast-cupful of milk and a piece of butter the size of a large egg into a saucepan. Let it sit until the butter is melted, then pour it over 3/4 pound of bread crumbs and 1/2 pound of grated cheese. Let these soak for 20 minutes, then add a pinch of salt and 4 well-beaten eggs. Pour the mixture into a dish that has been buttered well, and bake it for up to 40 minutes in a fast oven.
Valentine Recipe:8 DATE PUDDING
Melt three tablespoons of butter and add a half cup of molasses, a half cup of milk, one and a half cups of flour mixed with a half teaspoon of baking soda, a quarter teaspoon of salt, and a quarter teaspoon each of cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add a half pound of dates that have been peeled and cut. Fill a well-greased mould. Also butter the top, and steam for 2 1/2 hours. Keep boiling steadily. Serve with whatever sauce you like.
