The Beginning...
Even in the past, flying was a new idea. People in the past couldn't think of a time when people didn't travel. Their only goal was to fly. Because of this, planes were made. In the end, technology made it possible for people to sit near the pilot on an aeroplane. People got so bored that they started to think of ways they could use the plane for good.
In 1910, people first thought that planes could be used to carry packages. A bolt of silk was the first thing to be shipped in an aeroplane, according to history. The package was taken from Dayton, Ohio, to Columbus. This was said to be the first time that air freight was shown.
In 1919, there was another shipment. The American Railway Express sent a bomber that had been changed. The cargo, which weighed 1100 pounds, was sent from Washington, D.C., to Chicago. Because the radiator froze, the plane had to land in Ohio. But that didn't stop people from using the plane to transport goods.
At the end of the 1920s, there were more airlines that carried freight. The freight carrier was only used for American business when it was made. The air freight helped them not only move goods quickly but also move the process along quickly.
There is no doubt that the air freight business has grown a lot since its early days.
From 1927 to 1931, the amount and number of shipments went from 45,000 pounds to almost a million pounds. Even though people tried to plan and organise the air freight business, it didn't start making money until World War II was over.
The Air Cargo Inc. was made up of the top four airlines, which are American, United, TWA, and Eastern. The company's main job was to pick up and deliver freight.
The Air Cargo was still running when the world ended. But United and TWA became independent in 1944 and started their own air freight businesses.
There were a lot of small plane owners who wanted to work in the air cargo industry but were not accepted. The big airlines didn't like it when smaller airlines tried to compete with them. One reason for this was the chance that the small airlines would mess up the industry's steady state. The first one didn't want to be in a competition, which was another reason.
Those who tried to fly small planes but failed fell to the ground. The only one that made it out alive is called "Flying Tigers." The Flying Tigers were able to do it because the plane could carry both military and civilian cargo. And it used to be known as the biggest in the air freight liner business.
Even though the air freight business got off to a good start, it wasn't growing that much. In business, it didn't work out very well. Until a man named Fred Smith started his new air freight service, which is now called the Federal Express.
The Air Freight Business Now
Federal Express is one of the most successful air freight companies. With the help of modern technology, it is now possible to meet customer needs by using air freight software. The software for air freight is the newest thing that freight forwarders can use. It will fix any problems in the system and give you great services at a good price.
Today, the (UPS) United Parcel Service is linked to the (FedEx) Federal Express. People now know that the two freight carriers are the most trusted and reliable air delivery services in the country.
