HBO's original series Sex and the City, based on Candace Bushnell's best-selling book of the same name, began airing in the summer of 1998 and quickly gained a large and loyal fan base. The show is about four young, career-minded women and their different relationships with men. It has a rare charisma that used to be missing from shows like this.
Carrie Bradshaw is a well-known relationship columnist and social butterfly, and Sarah Jessica Parker plays her on the show. Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), and Charlotte McDougal (Kristin Davis), who are friends, round out a cast of characters with many different lifestyles and points of view. Together, they make up the core of a self-made advice circle where they can talk about their love lives, relationships, and careers.
The Sex and the City (Season 5) DVD has a lot of funny episodes, like "Anchors Away," where a sailor invites Carrie to a "Fleet Week" party in the first episode of the season (only to have her go home alone due to her inability to forget about her past relationships with Aidan and Mr. Big). Charlotte has a bad date with a naval officer, and Samantha goes to great lengths to tell everyone in the neighbourhood about Richard's affairs. In "Unoriginal Sin," Samantha gets back together with Richard and Miranda agrees to baptise Brady. In "The Big Journey," Carrie's book tour takes her to San Francisco, where she meets up with Mr. Big.
