Cheers is one of the most popular sitcoms in American history, and it's perfect for anyone who's been to a place "where everybody knows your name." The show follows the lives of the people who work at and go to Cheers, a friendly neighbourhood bar in Boston. Sam Malone, who used to be a relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, runs the bar Cheers (Ted Danson). Ernie "Coach" Pantusso (Nicholas Colasanto), Carla Tortelli (Rhea Pearlman), and Diane Chambers are on Sam's staff (Shelley Long). A strong group of oddball characters is rounded out by regulars Norm Peterson (George Wendt) and Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger). The Cheers (Season 3) DVD has a lot of funny episodes and marks the beginning of Dr. Frasier Crane's rise to fame as a TV icon. Notably, Dr. Crane was only supposed to be on Cheers for a few episodes before his character became a regular cast member, like how John Ratzenberger rose through the ranks of the show. In episode #62, Seinfeld's Kramer, Michael Richards, makes a memorable guest appearance. After she broke up with Sam and quit Cheers, Coach asked Diane to come back to the bar because he thinks it will help Sam stop drinking too much. Sam, Diane, and Frasier are in a love triangle that lasts the whole season. In the last episode, while he and Diane are on a trip across Europe, Frasier proposes to Diane.
