You know what it means to "opt in," right? You know, that little box that pops up on many sales pages and offers you more information or a free newsletter if you sign up as a member or something? Well, you might think it's annoying and a waste of time and space, but let me change your mind right now. You need to know how well these small things work in the bigger picture of bulk email marketing. If you use them right, they will literally double, triple, or even quadruple your income.
So, what's the idea behind the optin? Well, you've probably heard of email marketing, in which you make a list of people who are interested enough in your product (or something similar) to want to know more, but not yet ready to buy. Well, this list is made by the opt-in tool. Then, once you have a list, you send them emails that show them a need or problem they may or may not know they have and offer your product as a solution. I know it sounds crazy and cheesy, but you wouldn't believe how well it works. You can also use the lists you make to sell other products to a subset of your customers.
Yeah, well, all you need is a simple piece of software that adds the opt-in box and then sorts and manages the lists that are made. Then, it lets you put in the emails you want to send in a certain order and at a certain time. It then keeps track of the results to help you figure out which emails are good and which ones need more work. So, what seems simple at first turns out to be a complex and very useful tool for any serious Internet marketer who is always looking for ways to boost conversions on any or all of his products.
So why does the optin tool work so well? Well, that's a great question, but I'm afraid I don't have a good answer for it. But I'll give you a shot at it by telling you some of my ideas that could explain how effective the optin is.
It lets the customer put off making a decision on something they haven't fully thought through, for one thing. Either they didn't realise they needed it as much as you said they did, or it was just a quick idea they were trying out for the first time. Second, the optin usually offers free information about strategy, how the product works, or just about life in general. And you know that people love free stuff, so this is a great way to get their attention. The rest is just old marketing tricks. So that's my two cents, but really, don't let this chance pass you by!
