Internet Copywriting - Make Your Offer Irresistible!

Any offer you make on the Internet needs to be worth the time of the reader. Time is valuable, and a worthless offer is the worst way to waste time, both for you as the creator and for your readers.

A newspaper ad sales rep went to her boss a few years ago, upset that her client didn't buy the ad schedule she had pitched. It turned out that the last time the client ran an ad, five years ago, "I didn't get a single result from my coupon" that he ran back then. The coupon was for free coffee refills, which was something that the restaurant did all the time. Who would care, really?

The ad manager said, "Go back and tell that man we'll run his ad for free if he lives up to the offer we make." Then, he told the young salesperson to tell the customer that the coupon would say "Bring this in for $1 cash" So, she did.

The client said no because he knew there would be too many people interested. He finally admitted to himself that his ads didn't work because what he was selling was bad. Keep this business owner's problems in mind as you write copy for the Internet to make offers that people can't refuse.

Make a deal that is worth taking the time to respond to. For an online programme, a "Free 60-day trial" is a pretty good deal. What kinds of deals can your company make?

To get people to respond to your offers, you need to make them hard to refuse. Can you afford to drop the price of your good or service by a few dollars? Or, you could offer a strong guarantee that makes the product or service almost risk-free. If you take on the risk, the customer will be less likely to refuse your offer.

No matter what you decide to offer, you must always keep your word. If you keep your word, new customers will find you quickly as your current customers tell their friends about you.

Don't worry if you've never written anything for the Internet before. No one knows as much as you do about your product or service. You know more about the product or service you are selling than even a professional copywriter because you are passionate about it. Let that passion guide your Internet copywriting as you try to make the perfect offer that your potential customers can't refuse.

Ask yourself, "What would make me buy?" if you need help coming up with a great offer for your Internet copywriting. Think about what you'll say. Is it do-able? If so, make that your hard-to-refuse offer.

If you think the offer is too good to make much money, you can always make it only available for a short time. This is another good way to get people to act quickly.

Make people feel like they need to act right away with your offer. If they don't do it right away, they might forget about it, and you could lose the sale. Adding a sense of urgency can be done by limiting the number of people who can take advantage of the offer or the amount of time they have to do so. For instance, the special offer might only be good for the next 100 people who place an order, or it might end in 48 hours. You can even use both to make people feel more rushed.

In short, make your offer hard to refuse. Make it worth the customer's time to order from you. Move the risk away from the customer and make them feel like they need to act quickly. Then, make sure you do what you say in your copy. If you do these things, sales will go through the roof!
