In my last article, I talked about how to use your About Me page to promote your eBay store. In that article, I said that it was one of the best ways to advertise on eBay that was rarely used. Ebay Reviews and Guides are a new feature, but eBay sellers don't use them nearly as much as the "About Me" page. In this article, I'll talk about how you can use this great feature to get the word out about your eBay store:
- Why should I write a review or guide about eBay? I would suggest that you write guides instead of reviews. This is because the only credit you get for writing a review is a small link to your eBay feedback profile. When you write a guide, you get a link back to your eBay feedback profile, eBay store, eBay About Me page, and some of your active listings. Anyway, whether you write a review or a guide, the point is to get the word out. People who read your review or guide will know that you have a presence on eBay. They may click on a link to one of your pages, which could lead to a sale.
- What should I write about in my eBay guide or review? As I said before, I write "Ebook Success" guides, which are basically copies of these newsletter articles that have been changed. But there are a lot of things that could happen. Just think about your hobbies, your job, or anything else you know enough about to write a series of guides about. Everyone has at least one thing they can write about. Once you've chosen a topic, break it up into small, useful guides. If you can't think of anything to write about for a guide, write a review of a product you already own. Even though the promotion you get won't be as good as what you'd get from a guide, it's still free promotion.
- What is a review or guide for eBay? A review is just your own opinion about something you bought on eBay, like a CD, DVD, book, etc. You give the product a score out of five and then write a short review about what you liked, didn't like, etc. You can write a guide about anything you know enough about to give advice on. I turn these newsletter articles into "Ebook Success" guides that I sell on eBay to go with my store there. But guides don't have to have anything to do with your eBay store. If you like to fish, for example, you could write guides about fishing.
That's the end of the story. If you keep writing good guides, people will give them good ratings. Your reviewer rank goes up as more people give you good ratings. Also, the more guides you write, the more pages you have on eBay to promote your listings, your store, and your feedback. Since reviews and guides are new and haven't really taken off yet, it's best to start now, while most eBay sellers aren't writing them. So, when it takes off on a larger scale, you'll already have a solid base to build on.
