If you've been looking into work-from-home jobs, you've probably heard of drop-shipping. You've probably seen a hundred ads trying to sell you an E-book that will tell you everything you need to know about eBay, or you've been tempted by some kind of "free" instant auction success kit. If you have been a victim of any of these scams, you may have decided that eBay and drop-shipping are not good ways to make money. Don't give up just yet! People who want to can start a successful eBay drop-shipping business with no money of their own. However?
As a drop-shipper, your success will depend on a number of things. First and most importantly, you must choose a drop-shipper that is approved by eBay. There are only TWO of these. Once you've chosen a drop-shipper, you'll need to choose what to sell. Don't sell things on eBay that are already very popular. For instance, everyone is selling MP3 players right now, so your chances of making sales are much lower than if you chose to sell belt buckles instead. Try to keep a stock of items that go together so you can sell more to your customers. If you sell computers and a customer decides to buy a desktop from you, he may also buy a printer or other accessories if you have them in stock.
Pricing is always hard for people who are just starting out. When listing their items, the number one mistake that new drop-shippers and eBay users make is that they forget to think about the fees. For example, a hunting knife from your drop-shipper will cost you $70 plus $4 for shipping, which brings the total to $74. You decide to sell it on eBay for $80, which will give you a profit of $6, right? WRONG! There are fees for listing your auction on eBay and for accepting PayPal payments. There are also fees for the final value of your auction. In this case, you would have lost anywhere from $2 to $5, depending on how your listing was set up. There's an easy way to avoid this problem and make sure you always make money. If you want to know more about how to price products, you can read my free, in-depth guide.
How do you get people to buy your products once you've set up your business model? If you use eBay, you are already a long way ahead of everyone else. There are more than 60 million people who use eBay, and you can easily bring them to your products by using tools that are already available to you on eBay. There are tools like the listing designer, bold and highlight options, and gallery photo options that you can use to improve your auctions. By opening an eBay Store, you can also grow your business and pay less to list items. Serious business owners should spend some time using eBay's message boards, FAQ pages, and live help to learn more about these and other tools.
I talk about all of these things and more in my free complete set up guide for new drop-shippers, which you can read by clicking on the link below. My guide is meant to help people who want to be successful and are serious about it. No E-books or software are for sale, and there is no sales pitch.
