The word "podcasting" has been around on the Internet for a while. And actually read an article that stated it's arrival. However, it never really gave me any information about Podcasting. And yes, I did give in to my curiosity. I thought it was time to learn more about podcasting and find out what it is, how it works, and if it could help my business. And, most importantly, how much I would have to pay to use this new technology.
How does podcasting work?
Podcasting is just a web log that has audio instead of text. And the part that has sound is given as an MP3 file. It's kind of like having your own radio show about anything you want. RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is a technology that is used to send out the podcast.
What can I do with it for my business?
What can I do with it for my business? I think that answering that question is the most important thing to do. Why buy the technology if you aren't going to use it? Right? Well, I think it could help any business. For example, let's say your site is about cats, which is a niche market. You could make your podcast about your niche market and give people tips and information about cats through an audio file. Then, you could tell them to check out your website or blog for more information.
What can sound do for your company? It gives you a voice and shows that you are a real person. You've also made a connection by putting the same information and follow-up information in your blog. You are now a real person with a real voice, not just a mask.
How do I find a Podcast?
If you're new to podcasting, don't know much about it, and (like me) don't want to spend much (or anything) to try out this new product, I'd recommend getting the ebook by Jeff Mills. He tells you everything you need to know and helps you get started. Go to www.myaffiliateplace.biz/Affiliate Ebooks Mills.htm on my site to see what he has to offer. Or, if you have time, you can do your own research in this area.
In conclusion, it's always good to be open to new technology that comes to the Internet and see if it can help you and your website. Sometimes it won't work, but sometimes it could be just what you need.
And remember that everyone has their own comfort zone when it comes to getting information for themselves. Some people like ebooks, but others like books better. Some people like to read, while others prefer to hear. So, you can see that if you can give your visitors the best of both worlds, you have a better chance of making them a customer and/or a return visitor.
