Affiliate marketers who are successful see problems as chances to learn and not as reasons to give up. They have learned that sticking with something pays off in the long run.
The four R's—resources, realisation, relationships, and rewards—are what I call the unique benefits of sticking with something.
- Resources
If you stick with an affiliate programme, you'll learn what resources you have and how to use them in the best way for your programme. Many affiliate programmes today offer help with affiliate marketing in the form of solo ads, classified ads, banners, suggested signature lines, articles for your website or blog, safelist memberships, viral e-books, viral reports, marketing videos, and autoresponder message series.
Most of the time, these resources come with forums, chat rooms, teleconferences, and tutorials where you can learn how to use them best for the affiliate programme.
You won't be able to use all of these resources well or fully understand your affiliate programme, the product or service you're selling, or the way your target market works in two or three months.
If you don't stick with your affiliate programme, you miss out on learning opportunities and don't make the most of the resources you have (which you are ultimately paying for).
- Realization
With time and exposure to these affiliate resources, successful affiliates, and the systems that support your affiliate programme, you will get more out of your efforts. Over time, you learn which marketing methods work best for the product or service you're selling through your affiliate programme.
You also learn how your program's reporting system, follow-up system, and commission system work. With persistence, you can learn more about the features and benefits of your product or service, as well as who your real target market is and how to sell to them.
With time and effort, you may figure out how to use your own skills and resources in the best way for your affiliate programme. It can also help you figure out how to make your different affiliate programmes work together better.
- Relationships
With time and effort, you can build relationships with your sponsor, upline, downline, and other affiliates, especially if you use the affiliate program's forum, teleconferences, or teleclasses to talk to them.
In turn, relationships bring you resources, support, encouragement, and ideas that can help you improve your affiliate income and how well you do your job. Through these connections, you can get help with affiliate marketing.
If you give up, you won't get these benefits from your relationship.
- Rewards
Different things can happen when you keep going. A sponsor or the owner of an affiliate programme will often give a reward to people who stick with it. This can come in the form of discounts, bonuses, extra credits, or people who join your downline. You may also benefit from the program's natural development as it is tweaked, improved, and updated. Members who have been there for a long time often get to try out new things first.
If you keep at it, you might become a leader in the programme, which could lead to lucrative offers to be a leader in another affiliate programme.
These four R's—resources, realising goals, building relationships, and getting rewards—are all connected. With persistence comes a kind of synergy in which the four R's reinforce each other and give you an even bigger boost to your affiliate income.
Persistence pays off. It takes you to the next level as an affiliate marketer, helps you learn more about affiliate marketing, improves your online experience, and brings you money.
How many times have you asked yourself, "Where would I be now if I had stuck with that other affiliate programme?"
