Turkey can be cooked in many different ways. Grilling is one way that food can be cooked. Grilling turkey is becoming one of the most popular ways to cook it, and it's also one of the healthiest. As the turkey cooks on a grill, the fat drips off as it cooks, keeping the meat healthy and full of flavour.
Aside from that, there are a lot of different ways to cook turkey, using different tools like the oven and the ever-popular microwave. Here, we'll show you a few different ways to cook a turkey.
Here are some of the different kinds of grills you can buy and some basic tips on how to use them.
Charcoal Grill with a Roof
First, you need clean, well-maintained tools and good charcoal for this. On one side, build a pyramid out of charcoal. Set the charcoal on fire until it is red hot. Put a thermometer on the rack of food to find out how hot the grill is. This will let the cook know exactly how hot the meat is while it is cooking.
Place the turkey in the middle of the grill, and evenly spread the charcoal around the outside. Set the grill rack in place and put the ready-to-cook turkey on it. The breast of the turkey should be facing up. Just keep it at the same temperature. Then put a lid on the grill. You can add seasonings to the turkey as it cooks if you want to give it flavour. Softwoods like cedar and pine should never be used because they change the taste of the food and turn the turkey's skin black.
When the thermometer in the turkey's inner thigh reads 180 degrees Fahrenheit, the bird is done. It is very important to use a food thermometer because of this.
Gas Grill with a Cover
Either propane tanks or natural gas can be used to power the gas grill. If your gas grill only has one burner, you can make indirect heat by putting a water pan under the grate. If you have more than one burner, move the turkey away from the flame. To do this, turn off one burner and put the turkey in its place.
You can also roast a turkey in the oven instead of on a grill.
You can use a microwave oven to cook a whole turkey or just parts of it. But sometimes it's not a good idea to cook the turkey whole because it cooks unevenly. The turkey might not be cooked to the right temperature on the inside. With 650 to 700 watts, a full-size microwave oven can only fit a small turkey that weighs 8 to 10 pounds.
Since you can't use a metal thermometer here, just check when the food is done cooking. Different parts of the turkey can be checked with an instant-read thermometer.
Electric Roaster Oven
This thing can be used as a second oven to cook a big roast.
First, heat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, put the turkey on a meat rack or an oven rack to keep it away from the juices that collect at the bottom of the oven. Leave the cover on while cooking, and take it off as little as possible so that the cooking process doesn't slow down. Check the inside of the thigh until the temperature reaches 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
Oven cooking bag method
One of the safest ways to roast a turkey is this way. It's a tasty alternative to the way turkey is usually cooked.
Put an oven-cooking bag in the oven and turn it on to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Shake the empty bag with a tablespoon of dry flour to coat it so it doesn't burst. The pan needs to be big enough so that the turkey can fit in the middle. Set aside room for the bag to grow while it's cooking so it doesn't touch any part of the oven and melt.
To find out if the turkey's thigh has reached 180 degrees Fahrenheit, a meat thermometer is put right through the thickest part of the plastic.
Any of these ways to cook a turkey will give you a tasty meal.
