Winter Park is known as the "Mountain Bike Capital of the USA" because it has 600 miles of trails for mountain biking. There are 50 miles of single-track trails at the resort, all of which can be reached by chair lifts and have signs that say how hard they are. Once you get to the top of the lifts, you might want to stop at the Sunspot for a quick bite to eat while taking in the view of the mountains all around you. From there, you can choose runs like the Upper Arapahoe, which is the resort's downhill race course, or you can take a 7-mile beginner ride along The Long Trail.
In the Fraser Valley, you can enjoy the Rocky Mountain wilderness trails while being surrounded by amazing mountain views. The paths go along babbling brooks, through flower-filled meadows, and up rough mountains.
During the summer, there are races that anyone can join, even if they are not very good at running. Most of the races start or end at Winter Park Resort. The King of the Rockies, which is the last race of the season, is one of these.
Whether you're at the resort or in downtown Winter Park, it's easy to find shops, rental places, and places to get things fixed. There are also a lot of different restaurants and bars with food that is as good as it is different.
When the Continental Divide is in the background, music sounds better, and you might be able to find out for yourself since there are music festivals and concerts almost every weekend during the Summer. Stays in Winter Park may need to be planned ahead of time for events like the Jazz Festival and the Food, Wine, and Beer Festival.
