Setting career goals and objectives is very important for loan officers.
Even though you can make a good living as a loan officer, you should still set some goals and objectives to keep from getting burned out.
You need to eat first and foremost, so your weekly goals are just as important as your long-term goals.
I did a lot of cold calling when I was a loan officer. I made cold calls from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
I called with the goal of getting at least three loan applications per night, which would give me fifteen for the week. I wanted to close three of those fifteen loan applications.
The key to your success and how far you can go in the mortgage business is how much experience you have. So, the better off you will be, the more you know and the more experience you have.
No broker of record in the mortgage business started out as anything other than a loan officer.
That's the great thing about this business, and the sky's the limit. You can be the broker of record and work by yourself from home, or you can open your own store and hire loan officers to work for you.
It will take time and hard work, but it is possible.
Don't forget the other ways the mortgage industry can lead you as well.
You will learn more about tiles, deeds, appraisals, real estate, etc. than you ever thought possible.
Think about all the doors this opens for you and how great it will look on your resume.
