Have you ever tried to get a loan and almost winced when the so far friendly lender looked at your credit history? If you've already shown that you're not a responsible borrower, it's not surprising that lenders will be a little wary of giving you another loan. It makes sense, doesn't it? After all, you have already shown that you are a careless candidate. How can your creditors know that you've changed your ways this time? Instead of sitting around moping, look at the situation with an open mind. If you haven't made your minimum loan payments in the past or are usually a little late with your bill payments, it can only hurt you.
Simply put, your creditors don't want to have to wonder if you're going to be a big financial loss or if you've changed your ways and become a good borrower. If your credit history doesn't have any major problems, you're already one step closer to getting a loan. Having proof that you understand the responsibilities that come with loans also helps.
As well as showing the lender that you deserve a loan, you should also show yourself and your bank balance that you can handle your money by paying the interest on time and doing any other regular maintenance that needs to be done with your money. If you don't do that, whether it's because you don't know how to handle your money or for some other reason, there's almost no reason not to tell your creditor. You need to let them know that you're either taking care of it (showing that you're honest about why) or that you need to work something out.
I won't go into a lot of detail about what you can do to fix your money problems. But part of being responsible is telling your creditor about any trouble you might be having that they would want to know about. Make it a point to let your creditor know if you are having trouble with money. Once you and your creditor agree that you are a responsible borrower, the process of getting a loan becomes much faster and easier, both for that loan and for any others you might want.
What can you do in the meantime to show that you can be a good borrower? Making sure you have a steady income is important, but you should also remember that getting too deep in debt now can hurt you in the long run, especially if you borrow more than you need. Make sure you really need a loan before you even think about getting one. It may seem obvious, but there aren't many things worse than finding out you're in debt for a reason that makes no sense. A responsible borrower always makes sure to borrow as little as possible, because it's never good to have a lot of debt.
