- If they continue to bet after a bad flop
Observe the other player. Let's say they bet before the flop and their hand wasn't that good. Now that the flop is out, and it's not good, you have to think they might be bluffing. So raising the bet or re-raising it might make them think about it, since they probably have no chance with the drawings and might fold.
The odds are in their favour.
When everyone folds, for example. And especially when the pot is big, like when you miss a draw, and you might be thinking about bluffing. Then, it makes sense to think that they could also be lying. So you can either call or raise, but don't waste such a big pot.
- When it's just you and your partner.
It's thought to be the easiest way to lie. They'll figure that if they've made it this far, they might as well keep going. But don't let yourself be tricked, and if you have a good hand, play it.
- When there are no more draws to the flop.
Players sometimes bet here to get rid of the chance of a draw, and sometimes they do this because they have good cards. Whether or not they are bluffing, you have to know who you are playing with.
- When they made a bet and then checked.
When a draw just happened that wasn't good enough, they are probably just trying to keep going without much. You should bet with them.
- When they first bet, they did it again, and then they checked on the river.
The only difference is that there are now two bets instead of just one.
- If when you bet, they show that they feel sorry for your money
They are just trying to make you feel afraid. No one wants to lose more when playing poker. If they really had a hand, they would have let you stay so they could win more.
Just look at the situations where you are ready to bluff to find more of them. Remember that if you're willing to do it, other people might be too. Try to learn each player's style before you try to figure out if they are bluffing. It's important to know who you're playing against, because that will help you make better predictions about the games you're playing.
