It's not hard to make sure that your vacation goes as planned, but you do need to plan it carefully.
First, you have to decide where to go. For my vacation this year, I've chosen to go to Holland. Once you know where you want to go on vacation, you can start making plans for what you want to see and do there. I like the Van Gogh museum, the Rembrandt museum, and the Casino in Holland.
This will be my first chance to go to a casino in Europe, and I've always liked them. I can't pass up the chance to play European Roulette, and I've been practising at an online casino. Okay, I'll admit that I've also been "practising" poker and blackjack, but don't tell my wife.
Once you know where you want to go and what you want to do there, you can figure out where you want your hotel to be.
There are many websites that offer the best prices on hotels, so make sure to check out a few of them before making a final decision. Most of these sites have pictures of the rooms and other parts of the hotel.
After looking at the hotels, choose the top three and do an internet search for them. Look for reviews written by people who have stayed there before. The hotel's website will always tell you how great it is, but if someone is mad enough to trash a place or praise it, you can be pretty sure they are telling the truth.
The first hotel I looked at for my trip to Amsterdam said it was close to the city centre and in a nice area, but reviews from former guests said the area was full of drug addicts and homeless people, which is not really what I want to see on vacation, so I found a much nicer location. It's a little farther from the city centre, but it's close to the museums we want to visit. Because of this, we can get up early and walk to the museums, then spend the rest of the day walking around the city centre and looking at shops and attractions.
The only thing left to do is pack the right clothes. Make sure to pack clothes for both good and bad weather, unless you're going somewhere where the weather is always the same. The weather should be mostly sunny and in the 50s when I go on my trip in a week, but there is a chance of rain, so I will bring a raincoat and extra socks just in case.
If you're going to Europe and want to go to a casino, you should know that European casinos are fancier than American ones. Most casinos require men to wear ties and jackets or turtlenecks. They won't let you in if you're wearing shorts, a T-shirt, and sandals.
You should also buy a travel guide no matter where you are going. Many of them also have discounts for attractions and helpful suggestions for things to see and places to eat.
Now all that's left to do is go have fun, which I definitely will.
