Here are some ways to find cheap health insurance.
Since 1985, I've worked as a health insurance agent. I help people in Connecticut find health insurance, and for the past few years, I've also been in charge of a website that helps people in other states find online medical and hospital policies.
I've changed my mind about hospitalisation only insurance over the years. These health insurance plans have a lot of restrictions that don't come with most health insurance plans. I usually help my clients who want hospital-only policies find providers of catastrophic health insurance now. High-deductible or catastrophic health insurance plans are also cheap, but they have fewer problems.
Why I don't like insurance that only pays for hospital stays:
Less and less time is being spent in the hospital. But that doesn't mean that people are getting better faster. In the past, you might have gotten medical care during the last day or two of your hospital stay. Today, you're more likely to get that care outside of the hospital. Most likely, this care won't be paid for. A health insurance plan that only covers hospital stays may pay for the hospital stay, but usually not the medical care you get outside of the hospital.
MRIs, X-rays, and other tests are often done outside of a hospital. These can be expensive, and a policy that only covers hospital stays might not cover them.
If you have a long-term illness, you may need to see a doctor for years. If you only have insurance for hospital stays, none of those visits are likely to be covered.
People buy policies that only cover hospital stays to save money. It's good to save money, of course. But if that was all there was, we'd all buy the cheapest car and wear the cheapest clothes.
If you need to keep your health insurance costs low, I suggest looking for medical and hospital policies online or elsewhere. Look for a catastrophic or high-deductible policy that covers you both at the doctor's office and in the hospital. Even if they both cost the same, I think that a catastrophic health insurance policy with a $2,000 deductible that covers you at the doctor's office and in the hospital is a better deal than a hospitalization-only policy with a $1,000 deductible.
Hospitalization-only insurance is like a bulletproof vest that only protects you in the front. It might be better to get catastrophic health insurance. If you need to save money, choose a "bullet-proof" policy with a higher deductible and a higher deductible.
Best of luck,
