A garden is like a blank canvas where you can put just about anything. Whether you want a place to sit, something to eat, or something just to look at, you can put it in your garden, which is your own outdoor space.
Plants, especially grass lawns, bushes, and trees, are the most common things to put in gardens. It can be very satisfying to see something you planted just a few months ago start to grow roots and then grow bigger and stronger over the years. Gardening is a hobby that many people feel they can get into, even though it requires care and attention.
If you can grow flowers and bushes that last from season to season, you might even feel brave enough to try growing your own food. Even in a small garden, you can grow many crops that will give you a lot of food and taste great when you harvest them. Root vegetables like potatoes and carrots do very well, as do berry bushes and apple trees. When you grow your own food, it tastes better and saves you money at the same time.
If you're not that good with plants, you can put things other than plants in your garden. It's not hard to build something like a brick barbecue, get some chairs, and invite some people over. You might want to build a patio or deck where you can sit outside but away from the garden. People also like to put different kinds of paths and rocks in their gardens, as well as decorative items like garden gnomes and model birds. If you like fish and other water creatures, you can even dig yourself a pond and fill it with different animals and plants.
