All students should care about getting health insurance at a low cost. Students in college and university come in all shapes and sizes. This means that while one student may have health insurance through his or her parents, another student may not. One student might be able to use the health insurance plan of his or her spouse, but another student might not be married. In other words, every student is in a different situation, but there is one thing that all students have in common: they all need cheap health insurance.
Some colleges and universities help make it easy for students to get health insurance at a low cost. There are colleges and universities that help pay for their students' health care. If your college or university offers health care benefits, you need more information than just the cost to figure out if the health care is low cost or not.
Ask yourself the following:
- What kinds of medical care are available? Does the health care plan only cover colds and flu, or can other health problems also be treated?
- Are health problems that have already happened covered? If you already have a health problem, you may need to go somewhere else to get care for it.
Am I required to see a certain doctor? Many colleges and universities hire a few or a few different doctors to take care of students' health needs. Find out who these doctors are and if you feel comfortable going to see them.
Does the plan cover prescription drugs? If the student health care plan doesn't cover medicine, you may have to pay more money if you already take prescription drugs or if you go to the doctor in the future and are given a prescription.
What happens if I need to go to the emergency room? We all know that health problems can pop up out of nowhere and that visits to the emergency room can be expensive.
