People and things outside of you have a big impact on your life. What you watch, what you listen to, and who you hang out with all have a big effect on you. The people you hang out with can either help you or hurt you. You might not think it's that important. But the most important thing in your life is the people you spend the most time with.
The majority of us see a lot of people every day. It is well known that there are groups in every social setting. Think about your workplace. Most of the time, you hang out with people who like the same things you do. But it might not be that easy. When you spend a lot of time with the same people, your level of success is likely to be very similar to theirs. This is a thing that happens everywhere in the world.
This happens a lot even in the world of sports. "Playing to the level of the competition" means that a team's style changes without them realising it. Most of the time, the better team will play at the level of the other team. The worst team will often play better than they are to keep up with the other teams. This doesn't just happen in sports; it happens all the time.
Many studies have shown that this is true. Put someone who isn't very good at something with a group of people who are good at it. That person will also be successful in a very short amount of time. On the other hand, if you put a successful person in a group of people who don't do their best, that person will also not do their best. It's a strange thing that happens, but it works.
How will this affect you? Hang out with the best people in your field. Stop hanging out with people who aren't doing well, even if they are your friends. Don't cut them off completely, but don't hang out with them as much either. The more successful people you hang out with, the more successful you will become yourself.
