Arizona has a programme called the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System for people who can't get health insurance through work because they are unemployed or for some other reason (AHCCCS ). AHCCS is Arizona's Medicaid programme.
There are a number of low cost plans for families, children, and women who are pregnant. Here are a few of the many plans that AHCCS has to offer.
- AHCCCS Care Program: This programme helps people and families get medical coverage. Coverage includes visits to the doctor, stays in the hospital, prescriptions, mental health care, and lab work. There is, however, a limit on how much you can make each month: $851 for a single person and $1,144 for a couple.
KidsCare gives medical coverage to kids who haven't had insurance for at least three months. This coverage is available if the child's family's income meets strict guidelines. For instance, a family of four can't make more than $3,442 per month, or $41,304 per year. Between $10 and $25 will be paid each month for one child. The cost is $15 to $35 for two or more children.
Baby Arizona: Women who are pregnant and don't have health insurance but are low-income can get it through the Baby Arizona health plan. There is a delay of 20 days for processing, but many applicants may be able to get care before the 20 days are up.
Arizona has health plans for self-employed people and small business owners, in addition to low-cost family plans:
Health Care Group offers HMO, PPO, PPOS, Vision Care, and Dental coverage to self-employed people and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees. Small businesses can give their employees full health insurance plans because they have a lot of options.
All of the above plans require you to be a US citizen or a qualified immigrant and live in Arizona. There are other requirements that are unique to each plan, so do a lot of research before you apply.
