Since car insurance or some other form of proof of financial security is required everywhere in the United States, it shouldn't be a surprise that we try to find the cheapest car insurance. But the woman driver doesn't have as much trouble getting cheap car insurance.
Even though it may sound sexist, a woman driver usually gets a lower quote for car insurance than a man driver. Of course, this isn't because car insurance companies favour women, and it's not even because they think a person's driving skills might be affected by their gender. Statistics show that, in general, a woman driver is safer and more careful on the road than a man driver.
Women drivers are more likely than men drivers to pass their driving tests on the first try. This doesn't mean that women drivers are smarter than men drivers, but it could mean that women study and practise for the test more on their own.
Women don't get into as many accidents as men do when they drive. This could mean that they are more careful on the road or that they buy safer cars. It could also mean that they are carrying something important, like children.
Most of the time, women drivers don't cause as much damage in car accidents as men do. This probably has something to do with being careful and driving safer cars, too.
Also, women drivers don't do as many crimes involving cars as men drivers do. No one really knows why this is a number, but it is. Most of the time, men are the ones who break the law when it comes to cars.
Neither these numbers nor the comments that follow them are in any way sexist. But these numbers show that it's much easier for a woman driver to get cheap car insurance than it is for a man driver.
