Alaska: The Last Frontier
Aw Alaska is a great place to go on a cruise vacation because it has so many amazing things to see and do, like beautiful scenery, glistening glaciers, lots of wildlife, and Native American culture. Alaska has so much to see and do that it makes sense that the alpine forget-me-not is the state flower.
When cruise ships go to Alaska, they usually take a seven-day trip along the Inside Passage and stop at four ports along the way. During this trip, they usually stop at Glacier Bay National Park or Hubbard Glacier. Most cruise lines also offer longer cruise-tour packages that include stays at lodges and sightseeing in Denali National Park. This makes their trip to Alaska even more exciting.
Because of the weather and the amount of sunlight, cruises to Alaska only take place from early May to mid-September. Peak season is June, July, and August, when the average high temperature each day can reach 75 degrees Fahrenheit. If you want to get the best deals, check sailing dates in May and September, when the average high temperature is around 50 degrees.
There are many ships and cruise lines that go to Alaska, from luxury ships to midsize ships. Most of these ships have more activities for kids, which is great for families. Most cruise ships leave from Vancouver, BC, but Seattle is becoming more and more popular as a summer port of call for many lines. Both embarkation and disembarkation points let cruise ships go to Juneau, Ketchikan, and Skagway, which are some of the most popular ports on an Alaska cruise.
