This article about beliefs is just a way for me to say what I think. It's not the end of the story.
I think that our lives are based on what we believe. We really do live in a huge set of beliefs. Some beliefs are so well-suited to our world that most people just take them for granted and don't think twice about them.
Even the act of reading this article is based on your beliefs, because the idea you're making in your head is conceptual and comes from your thinking mind. Maybe what really is isn't just a set of ideas, but also something that can be felt right now. Even though a truth can be described or thought of, the thought of it is itself a thought.
Beliefs can have a lot of power, especially when most people agree with them. When a certain belief gets started, it can set off chain reactions that lead to the formation of other beliefs. Gradually, more and more beliefs get in the way of directness and truth. So full of beliefs and so far from its original spontaneity that life becomes overly complicated and full of rules.
The most important beliefs in our world are:
Putting your sense of self in your body.
When we are actually a lot more than that. It can be hard to get rid of this belief. And it takes a long time for us to figure out who we really are. This article isn't big enough to cover everything about this belief. So I won't say anything else.
War.
War starts when large groups of people believe that their beliefs give them the right to hurt other people. War is a belief, because neither nature nor animals fight. It's something that only humans do because it was thought up by humans. It's not natural or necessary to human life. The military is a branch off of war.
Money makes people happy.
Most people thought it was true that money makes people happy. Money doesn't make you happy; you just tell yourself that it does. The idea of money led to a belief in status, status led to competition, competition led to the rat race, the rat race led to a lifetime of hard work, and in the end, few people remembered that the original point of life was to be happy and satisfied.
Status.
The worth of a person that is determined by things like money and rank. This one causes a lot of pain in societies with a lot of hierarchy. This saying is very similar to "money can buy happiness."
Perfectionism.
It is one of the most common ideas in our culture. Perfectionism is seen as good everywhere in this world, while being imperfect is seen as bad. Everyone wants everyone else to be the best they can be. Is Perfection really a value that can't be changed? I doubt it.
I think it's subjective and based on how people think. Perfectionism is a thought. This is how things are. Both perfection and flaws have their own values.
Country.
The idea of a country is just the idea that land belongs to someone. In the end, people did not make land, so no one owns it. Patriotism is a belief that grew out of the word "country." Patriotism isn't needed when there are no countries or wars.
I think I've gone on long enough. We appreciate you reading.
