Even though people have flaws, they are definitely tough and resourceful. Even though we should be sad about these flaws, we must look at the bright side and find reasons to be hopeful and to be more committed to life and humanity. This short article is all about this commitment and hope.
People can have a wide range of problems, but most of them have the ability to be happy and act in a good way. There is no guarantee, though, that they will always and fully use this ability, no matter what happens. Depression and shame are still a possibility, and they are more likely the worse their illnesses are and the harder it is for them to live up to the values that make them happy and respected: courage, efficiency, wisdom, and nobility.
Even when things are going very well, it is never easy to live up to these values. It takes a lot of willpower. The most important question in life is whether or not to make this effort. This is a hard question to answer because of how much suffering people go through and how much their dignity is at stake. The more difficult this task is, the more likely they are to want to take the easy way out. Fear of losing their pride is a strong deterrent, though. The only thing worse than losing your dignity is losing your life. Still, the easy way out is a very strong temptation when things are going very badly. Then, it's sad but understandable that someone would give up instead of living up to the above values. Things that make things worse are ones that make things better.
Even though many people have to deal with a lot of pain, it's surprising that the number of people who lose their morals and act in bad ways like carelessness, homelessness, and crime, often with the help of alcohol or drugs to dull their conscience, is small compared to the number of people who act in a good way. Also, a moral collapse can be fixed, unless the person has a weakness that runs in their family or was born with, or a mental illness that can't be fixed. Overall, people can lose their dignity and then get it back.
Those who don't give up trying to prove their worth usually don't do their best. Their spirit is often tainted by the fact that they sometimes give in to being lazy, cowardly, ineffective, foolish, self-centered, or mean. It looks as grey as dawn. Even those who shine like the sun in the late morning have a shadow of flaws following them. In short, people haven't reached their full potential yet. Even though there is a lot of courage, efficiency, wisdom, nobility, happiness, and respect in the world, there could be a lot more. A strong will is the key to this rise.
