Introduction:
This article talks about what Astrology is and how it works. Astrology is the art or practise of figuring out how the planets and their movements might affect human affairs and personalities. From this, a horoscope can be made, which is a diagram (or chart) of where the planets and Zodiac signs are in relation to each other at a certain time, usually the time of birth. Then, a forecast can be made.
Astrology:
Around 500 BC, a concept called the Zodiac was made, which was the start of Western Astrology. This was made up of a made-up sphere that went around the earth and followed the Sun as it moved through the constellations over the course of a year. The Zodiac was divided into twelve parts, each of which was named for a constellation that could be seen there.
Elements:
Classical elements were used by a lot of old philosophies to explain how nature worked. Each sign was linked to one of the four classical elements—fire, earth, air, or water—and to a social, personal, or universal area of focus.
- Thought, perspective, and communication are all linked to air signs. Air thinks that, when combined with the other elements, water will hide it, earth will suffocate it, but fire will inspire and lift it.
- Water signs have to do with growth, figuring out who you are, and how you feel. Water thinks that, when combined with the other elements, fire will make it boil, air will make it evaporate, but earth will shape and channel it.
- Earth signs are about feeling, being stable, and being practical. Earth thinks that air will dry it out, and fire will dry it out, but water will refresh and feed it.
- Fire signs have to do with action, energy, and passion. Fire thinks that earth will suffocate it and water will drown it, but air will blow on it and make it feel alive.
Modalities:
Each sign is linked to one of three modalities: cardinal (sometimes called movable), fixed, and mutable.
Following the order of the zodiac signs, there are four quadrants with three signs in each. Starting with a cardinal sign, moving to a fixed sign, and ending with a mutable sign, each quadrant describes a season.
Modalities and Signs of the Zodiac:
- Fixed signs show how determined, focused, and unique you are. These signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.
- Mutable signs are linked to the ability to change, to be resourceful, and to see the whole. Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces are their names.
- Cardinal signs have to do with creativity and starting something new. They are the signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.
Characteristics of the Zodiac Signs:
Aries (cardinal, fire, personal): defensive, active, head down, confident, and quick to act.
Taurus (fixed, earth, personal): patient, generous, resourceful, thorough, and devoted.
Gemini (mutable, air, personal): quick, logical, inquisitive.
