What if I could save you 10–20% on your car insurance each year, which can save you hundreds of dollars? Few people shop around for car insurance, but we do it every day at grocery stores and department stores.
It's not all that hard. Do some research on the type of coverage you have (5–10 minutes) and I'll help you move forward. Some of you already know this, but make yourself do the following:
- Set your car insurance deductible as high as YOU can afford. In other words, how much can you pay out of pocket IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOUR CAR BEFORE your insurance money starts to pay?
- Getting rid of full coverage on an older car that's already paid off might or might not be the best plan for you. Most of the time, it's better to lower your coverage if the car isn't worth much. Look at how much full coverage costs and decide if you want to get rid of that part of your insurance. How do you analyse? Ask your current agent and one or two of the other agents whose prices you are comparing. That's all! It's that simple and quick!
- Let the car insurance companies know that you are getting quotes from other companies. It may help you get an even better rate.
- Get at least 7–10 quotes for car insurance online or by phone. The better, the more estimates you have. You will be shocked by how different prices are. That alone will probably save you a lot of money. Make sure that the quotes you get from each company are for the same coverage.
