What's new about this game system? The Nintendo Wii is a very advanced game system that has only just begun to show what it can do. Nintendo has made a new way to play games that everyone in the family can enjoy. The Wii-mote controller looks a lot like a regular TV remote. It is completely wireless and has three motion sensors. The Wii-mote is very precise, and it lets people swing and twist their way through new games that are very creative and innovative. The Wii-mote also has a port where you can plug in a second controller, which lets you play some games with both hands. The second controller, called the Nunchuck, has an analogue joystick and a few buttons that give you more control over different games. It is also very comfortable to use.
The true potential of this system is shown by the sports game package that comes with it. Boxing, which is part of the sports game package, lets you jab and punch by extending your arm(s) forward, and you can block a punch by holding the controllers in front of your face, just like a real boxer would do. You can also move from side to side by moving your upper body in the right direction. On our family website, you can watch my six-year-old daughter box and show off her skills. It's time to stop sitting on the couch and pushing buttons and really get into the game. I've never been a big fan of sports games, but with this new technology, I can't wait for some of the big ones to come out. I'm really looking forward to Tiger Woods's Golf 2007, and I might even think about getting other sports games if they're as fun and realistic as this one.
Because you have to move around when you play the Nintendo Wii, I would almost suggest a light stretching session before you start. My wife and I learned this the hard way when we played and had sore muscles the next day. At least I know we were getting some exercise, which is something that other game consoles can't do.
