In the latest Superman movie, "Superman Returns," played by 23-year-old Kate Bosworth, she got a lot of great reviews for how she played the part.
Lois Lane, Clark Kent's co-worker at the Daily Planet and Superman's love interest, is one of the most well-known characters in American movie history. But Kate Bosworth, who is 23 years old, played Lois Lane in the latest Superman movie, "Superman Returns," and got a lot of great reviews for it.
Bosworth says that she wasn't sure if any actor could be convincing as both Superman and Clark Kent. She remembers the first movie with a lot of excitement. But she has nothing but good things to say about Brandon Routh, the unknown actor who plays the lead role. She knew Routh was going to be great in the movie during an early screen test, before she got the part. She said, "I got totally lost in just reading with him in a white, bare, sparse room with the tri-pod video camera and a couple of people sitting around and watching, and that's when I knew he was going to be terrific in this movie."
Bosworth based her performance as Lois Lane on that of Katharine Hepburn. "To get ready for Lois, I watched a lot of Hepburn movies, especially "The Philadelphia Story" and "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner." Hepburn is a great example of how I see Lois, who is strong but weak."
Bosworth moved around the US when she was young. She lived in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. She heard about an open audition for Robert Redford's movie "The Horse Whisperer" around the time she moved to Massachusetts in 1998. She went along because she liked horses, and she got the part of the female lead's best friend. After "The Horse Whisperer," Bosworth took a break from acting. She came back to it two years later, and her role in "Superman Returns" was the high point of her career.
