A drug or alcohol intervention is a way to break down barriers, get through to addicts, and help them see where they are and what can be done to help them stop using drugs or alcohol.
Drug abuse intervention is a wake-up call for someone who is going crazy. It's an attempt to provide a safety net for someone whose life is going downhill out of control. Behavior interrupters are what make interventions work. They talk about the problem, set limits, and offer ways to fix it. They break through the addict's denial and mark a turning point in his or her life, which should lead to the person entering a drug and alcohol rehab programme.
A drug and alcohol intervention is a conversation that is honest and from the heart. Intervention gives family, friends, and coworkers a chance to say, "Hey, we're watching you die, Man. It hurts our hearts so much. We are also affected by what you do. We want you to get some help!" An intervention of truth that breaks through the shield of denial is an amazing act of love. It gives both the addict and his family a chance to start over.
The process of getting better doesn't have to be painful. Life already hurts enough. It should feel good to get better. Holistic treatments that are new and different are having amazing effects. In the past, addicts have avoided treatment because they thought it would be more painful and hard than their drug use. Lucky for us, things have changed. Alternative methods of treatment have come a long way since the days when the idea was to "break them down, let them suffer, and feel the pain so they won't do it again." Today, we know that there is a lot more to recovery than just telling someone to do the twelve steps.
Healthy treatment doesn't just give you a break, put a bandage on a wound the size of a decubitus ulcer, and send you on your way. Healthy treatment doesn't shame or put down a person. Instead, it heals low self-esteem and gives the person the power to reach new heights. Treatment that is good for you gives you what you need to feel good on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Treatment that is good for the body and spirit brings back the joy of living. Healthy care is care for the mind, body, and spirit as a whole.
On the show "Intervention" on the Art & Entertainment Network, a heroin addict was shown using in her bathroom. While she was getting help at North Miami's G&G Holistic Addiction Treatment Program, also known as THE HOLISTIC CENTER, we saw her get better. After a year of being clean, this woman now works at the treatment centre that helped her get clean. The pictures from before and after are amazing. We see two different people: 1) a heroin addict standing in front of her bathroom mirror for six hours, nodding off after shooting up, and 2) a bright-eyed, confident, happy woman who is an inspiration to others and can take care of herself emotionally and financially. Her help was the bridge that got her out of the "dead zone" and gave her a chance to get better.
Think of an intervention as a cargo ship that takes a person who is actively using drugs to a safe place to get treatment for their addiction. The leader of the group is the captain. The crew is made up of family members, friends, and coworkers who can be trusted. You have done your research and have a plan for when to leave and where to go.
Your loved one and all of his emotional baggage are what you are carrying. You have to steer the ship as Captain. Each member of the crew takes a turn at the wheel and speaks the addict's truth in a loving way, chipping away at his or her anchor of denial. By the time everyone has told the truth, their feelings, needs, fears, and hopes, the family will have come a long way from denial to the truth and have a clear picture of the problem. Now is the time to offer a way out.
Holistic Treatment is a way out and a good thing. Think of treatment as a source of healing water, not as a prison you need to get out of. The addict must know that they are getting help as a gift, not as a punishment. No matter what masks of pride and defiance they wear, every addict is filled with shame, guilt, self-hatred, and fear. Love inspires and gives strength. Acceptance feeds the soul and makes it easier for it to heal and be spiritually healthy.
In this day and age, when addiction recovery treatment is a billion-dollar industry with low success rates, it is important to know that there is HOLISTIC TREATMENT that works and addresses the mind, body, and soul. Holistic treatment not only has the highest rate of recovery, but also seems to help people thrive, find real happiness, joy in life, and peace of mind.
