Most people who go camping use a tent and sleep on a mat on the ground. If that doesn't really interest you, you should go camping in an RV. It is the best camping trip ever.
RVs come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They start with campers that can fit in the back of a pickup truck. One of these can have a full kitchen, beds, a shower, and a toilet.
Next, there are Class B motorhomes, which are basically cargo vans that have been turned into camping cars. For more head room, the roof can be raised. The same amenities are in them as in the truck camper.
The Class C RV is the next one. The front looks like the front of a pickup truck, but that's about it. There's a sleeper extension on top of the cab, and the back looks like any other motorhome you've seen. Pretty much a cargo box with windows, but much nicer. The Class C has everything you'd find at home. A living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. A Class C could be your home.
The Class A RV is the next step for us. This is the motorised RV with the most space. These motorhomes are like a small apartment with one bedroom. They have everything they need. From the queen-sized bed to the four-person dinette, everything is luxurious. A microwave oven goes well with a fridge and a stove. You may even have an ice machine that can make more than 20 pounds of ice every day. Ready to party!
If that wasn't enough, you can also choose from the trailers. First, there's the travel trailer that you can pull behind a larger car or SUV. Then there's the 5th-wheel trailer that hooks up to the back of a pickup truck. Both of these trailers are as nice as the most expensive motorhome. They cost a lot less, which is a big plus.
You can buy something new or used. No matter what you decide, you should first do a lot of research online. Find out as much as you can about RVing. You can find RV forums by using your favourite search engine to look for them.
If you think an RV might be for you, go to one or two RV shows. There are big RV shows at fairgrounds and stadiums where dealers and vendors sell every kind of RV there is. Local RV shows are also held, usually by one or two dealers to show off and sell some of their inventory.
Buy a used RV if you're not sure if you want to spend $40,000 or $250,000 on a hobby you might not like. For less than $10,000, you can buy a used Class A motorhome that is 34 feet long.
The less fuel efficient an RV is, the older and bigger it is. On many older motorhomes, you may get 5 to 7 miles per gallon. Motorhomes from the middle of the 1990s can get 7-9 mpg, and new ones can get up to 12 mpg.
Your family is in for a fun time when you camp in an RV.
