The first half of Big Brother is over, so here's a quick look at four of the nine established characters and how they do in the betting market.
Pete
Current Odds: 1/2
Since he fell down the stairs to make his entrance, Pete has been the clear favourite to win Big Brother. His odds-on status is fair because he seems to be the nicest and most honest person in the house, and he has shown that he is more than just his Tourette's attacks and nervous ticks. Pete is the unlikely rom-com hero of the house. Lea, Lisa, and Nikki are all attracted to him, even though he says he's not interested in any of them. At the halfway point, it's hard to see anyone but Pete as the winner of Big Brother, since the producers love a "journey" and a soft story about Pete "being accepted for who he is" is being told right now. All of it is expected and made up, but that's what mainstream TV is all about, right?
Nikki
Current Odds: 11/2
Even though Pete is probably going to win, Nikki has been the best Big Brother contestant ever. Do people like her really exist, and if they do, how in the world do they stay alive? Nikki is 24 years old, but she acts like she isn't even in her teens yet. Everything makes her unhappy. She cried when she was nominated, when the other housemates had to wash her for a task, and when her MP3 player wouldn't work. But her constant complaining is funny instead of annoying, and her Diary Room monologues are so good that people can't stop watching them. She does this seven nights a week on the highlights show, which is pretty amazing. Nikki has survived three eviction nights in a row, which will make the other housemates less likely to put her up for eviction. Without a doubt, Nikki and Pete will be in the final two.
Glyn
Current Odds: 9/1
After a few weeks of staying out of the spotlight, Glyn is now a strong candidate to win the show. He's awkward, doesn't know how to talk to people, can't hold his drink, and has a crush on every woman in the room. So, he was like any other teenage boy. The other housemates think Glyn is harmless and funny without trying to be. This is why he has only been nominated once in five weeks. Glyn's desire for "older women" Lea and Suzie is pretty funny, and he also said that Blaenau Ffestiniog didn't have women like Aisleyne. Lucky boy.
Mikey
Current Odds: 14/1
Mikey hasn't done much in the Big Brother house in almost 50 days, other than talk about "birds" and who likes who. His character is mostly just that he looks a little bit like Vernon Kay and is trying to get with Imogen now that Grace has been kicked out. But he was the only roommate who tried to help Glyn after he had one too many drinks and became paralysed. Mikey doesn't do much to make other people mad, so he could very well make it to the last day.
