There are a lot of great places to eat that are affordable no matter how much money you have. You can buy food from street vendors or spend a lot of money on a great seafood dinner.
Most of the street vendors are in the small lanes or sois just off Walking Street. They sell everything from rice and noodle dishes to barbecue on a stick. The prices are very low, and you can get a meal or a snack for less than two dollars.
Many restaurants up and down the street serve Thai food in nicer settings. You can get Thai or Western food at prices that aren't too high.
Some bars also serve food or have menus that make it easy to order. You can order anything on the menu and have a full meal while drinking your favourite alcoholic drink.
If you want fish, lobster, or crab, you can go to one of three or four restaurants that have them on ice or still swimming around. Your meal will be great, and it will cost about a quarter of what it would at home. The view of Pattaya Bay is also beautiful. My favourite is King Seafood.
If you don't like seafood, you can always choose Italian. Don Joe's is on Walking Street and has a view of the bay. You can order pizza, pasta, or lasagna, and the service is great. A lot of the bars near Don Joe's have menus and will let you eat there while you drink a cold beer.
Kebab sandwiches, which some of the vendors sell, are another one of my favourites. You will see chicken, pork, or lamb on a vertical spit, and for about 50 Baht, or $1.50 US, you can get a sandwich with all the fixings. The meat will be cut up and put into pita bread. Cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions can then be added. There is also catsup and other sauces. My favourite food is chicken kebabs, and the girls in the bars will be happy to get you one.
The fact that you can get food at any time of day or night is probably the best thing about Walking Street. You can eat like a local at one of the many street vendors or go to King Seafood for crab or lobster. It's up to you. If you want, you can even get a burger and fries. You can also get a dessert, like an Italian ice or some fresh fruit.
Walking Street is a fun place to go for the bars and girls, but it is also a great place to get some great food.
