0% APR Credit Cards - Tips & Tricks

Credit cards are one of the most important things that people need in the modern world. There are a lot of credit cards out there now. The so-called "0% APR" credit card is a specific type of credit card. In the late 1980s, 0% APR credit cards were made available, and to this day, they are still one of the most sought-after types of credit cards. As with other types of credit cards, 0% APR credit cards have their own tips and tricks that all potential cardholders should be aware of.

With a credit card that has a 0% APR, you don't just have to pay off the outstanding balance; you can also charge up to the limit without having to pay any monthly interest. But sometimes, it's hard not to wonder how credit card companies can afford to give out credit cards with 0% APR and still make money.

Even though credit cards with 0% APR may not have monthly fees, you will still have to pay an annual fee for the privilege of having a 0% APR credit card. Most of the time, these annual fees cost between $15 and $20, and sometimes even more. Even if you have a credit card with 0% APR, that doesn't mean you can pay your bills whenever and however you want. If you don't make your payments on time, you WILL have to pay high fees for being late. The person with a credit card with 0% APR has to pay fees that can range from $20 to $40 for every late payment. If you always pay late, these small amounts could add up to a big sum!

Keep in mind that 0 percent APR credit cards are usually only available for a certain amount of time. This credit card interest may only be good for a set amount of time, which is usually between 3 and 15 months. At the end of this time, a higher rate of interest, usually 12 percent or higher, may become the norm. You could easily move any existing credit card balances to a new credit card with a 0% APR, which would give you 0% interest on the transferred balance. This way, the person with the credit card pays less interest for a set amount of time, giving them a chance to pay off their balances as quickly as possible.

When applying for a credit card with 0% APR, it is always best to read the terms and conditions. Not to ask an obvious question too many times, but why would someone do that? Because many credit cards have a default rate, which means that if you pay late, you will not only have to pay a late payment fee, but the default rate will also be added to the APR. This makes the balances on the card double, as well as any new purchases made on the card in the future. Ouch!

When applying for a credit card with 0% APR, it is very important to read all of the agreement's paragraphs, also known as the "fine print." This is because it is against the law for a credit card company to hide fees and charges, but it is not against the law for them to say these things in the fine print. So, companies that offer credit cards with 0% APR usually advertise it in big, bold letters, but they don't tell you that it's only for a limited time or that there might be extra fees. They do this in very small print.

Credit card companies that offer 0% APR have another trick up their sleeves: they put in sky-high APRs right after the amount of 0% APR balance transfers is paid off. In other words, the money you pay to the credit card company first goes toward the transfer, and a high APR will be added to any other purchases you make. Credit card companies may also send you a different card than the 0% APR card you originally applied for. You can't get the 0% APR this way, but you can get a different card with different terms and conditions. Card issuers usually explain this by saying that you don't meet the requirements for a credit card with 0% APR. The qualifications for a credit card with 0% APR are usually buried in the fine print, which most applicants don't read.

So, we can see that even though 0% APR credit cards seem like a good deal, there are some loopholes and tricks to how they work. Always make sure to carefully read the terms and conditions on the application agreement for the 0% APR credit card or any other type of credit card to avoid problems, headaches, or financial surprises in the future.
